She is gradually changing from Pamela Isley to Poison Ivy. During this time, she moves to Gotham City from Seattle. She starts out by threatening the city with toxic spores unless they do what she wants. Batman, who has just entered the city the same year, is the only one who can stop Poison Ivy. She is the most seductive of the Batman villains, using her potions to make people fall in love with her so she can get what she wants. Batman quickly puts a stop to her rampage and Poison Ivy gets put into a mental institution for insane criminals. Poison Ivy's plant powers develop throughout the years until she becomes a super villain. One of her weapons is the fact that her lips are poison, so she is the only one of the Batman villains who can literally give the kiss of death. Poison Ivy was brought into the picture when comic book readers started to sympathize and relate to Catwoman. They needed a new evil female Batman villain to take her place.
